Cleantech could contribute $61 billion to Alberta’s GDP

The Alberta Energy Transition Study forecasts the global energy transition could contribute $61 billion to the GDP by 2050 and create 170,000 jobs in the cleantech sector in Alberta. The study – conducted by Delphi Group, Foresight Canada and Cleantech.

Alberta’s holiday deep freeze pushed demand for electricity near record highs. The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) said Monday power consumption over the past week reached a high point on Dec. 23, with 11,620 megawatts used.
