Ballard to build world’s 1st multi-MW hydrogen plant

Ballard Power Systems announced its partner, Hydrogene de France (HGF), an independent power producer dedicated to renewable power generation, commenced construction of the CEOG renewable power plant in French Guiana. CEOG is the world’s first multi-megawatt, baseload hydrogen power plant.
Supporters hope hydrogen will redraw energy map
Hydrogen has been controversial since the Hindenburg — an airship filled with it — went down in flames in 1937. Boosters say the gas is a low-carbon miracle which can power cars and homes, and they hope it will redraw the energy map.
