Hypercharge Networks Corp., a Vancouver-headquartered electric vehicle (EV) charger solutions company, has delivered over a quarter of the charging stations planned for the King George Hub development in Surrey, B.C.
The company says it has provided 200 of its EVC11 Level 2 Charging Stations to PCI Developments, out of a contracted 788 charging stations.
The mixed-used King George Hub is planned to have 748 Level 2 charging stations, one for every residential parking space, and 29 Level 2 charging stations and one dual-port DC fast charger for visitors.
Deliveries began in the spring, and are expected to be finished by November.
“This development truly supports the future of real estate by adding EV charging stations to every residential parking stall in the project," Chris Koch, head of growth and partnerships at Hypercharge, said in a release.
"We continue to move forward on our delivery timeline for the project, adding to our growth and revenue momentum for the second half of 2024.”

King George Hub is designed to feature over 360,000 square feet of office space, over 150,000 square feet of retail space and 1.2 million square feet of residential space. It is to contain 1,624 condo suites and 771 rental housing units.
It is currently building the fourth phase that will add two condo towers with a total of 886 suites, planned for completion in 2025, and a fifth phase of an approximately 400-unit, purpose-built rental tower expected to be finished by 2026.
The first phase consisted of the Coast Capital Savings Help Headquarters, a LEED Gold-certified office building. The second and largest phase included two condo towers totaling 738 suites, along with a 170,000-square-foot office building that also has LEED Gold certification.
Intended as a transit-oriented project, it is adjacent to the King George Station along the SkyTrain Expo Line and near other public transit options such as buses.
In March 2023, PCI chose Hypercharge to provide 748 Level 2 charging stations for every residential parking space at King George Hub. Four months later, PCI asked Hypercharge to provide 29 more Level 2 chargers and the one dual-port DC fast charger.
Almost all of the deliveries will be the EVC11, a one-port station with a maximum output of 7.6 kilowatts. Hypercharge says it can charge an EV at 35 to 40 kilometres of range per hour.
Hypercharge offers the ABB Terra Series, the Autel MaxiCharger DC and the XCHARGE Net Zero Series as two-port DC chargers. The choice of the dual-port DC fast charger was not specified by Hypercharge.
Mott Electric is performing the installations and managing the infrastructure requirements for the charging stations at King George Hub.
As of Mar. 31, Hypercharge has sold over 3,000 ports and delivered almost 2,000 ports across North America, Kyle Kingsnorth, the company’s head of marketing, told Sustainable Biz Canada in an email exchange.
In June, the company signed a partnership with Deveraux Group of Companies to install 79 charging stations across its four apartment communities in Winnipeg and Edmonton.
