As Canadian mining companies seek alternative power sources to reach net-zero targets, energy producers are playing a major role, implementing sustainable technology at mine sites across the country.

Renewable energy facility operator Boralex Inc. recently released a corporate social responsibility (CSR) report detailing its achievements and ambitions in environmental and social governance (ESG) for 2022 and beyond.

North America’s Great Lakes have been a dumping ground for toxic and plastic waste. Now, action from U.S. president Joe Biden could see the country target 22 of the 25 problem areas on the U.S. side of its lakes.

General Motors Co. and South Korea’s Posco Chemical announced a deal Monday to build a plant in Quebec to produce material for batteries used in electric vehicles (EV). The $500-million facility will produce cathode active materials (CAM).

Bank of Montreal (BMO) has announced a plan that will see a 33 per cent cut in scope-1 and -2 emissions from oil and gas borrowers, as they aim to sharply reduce emissions connected to loans to the energy and power-generation sectors by 2030.

Fossil fuels make money for banks, leaving consumers in the dark. According to a Bank of the West report, 79 per cent of respondents are “passionate” about climate change; only 22 per cent know if their bank is investing positively.
