Deloitte Canada acquires fleet management firm Fleet Challenge Canada

Folds Toronto company's software for vehicle decarbonization into its sustainability practice

Deloitte Canada acquires acquires Fleet Challenge Canada Inc.Professional services firm Deloitte Canada has acquired Fleet Challenge Canada Inc. to expand the fleet decarbonization segment of its sustainability offerings.

“Combining Deloitte's leadership and commitment to sustainability with Fleet Challenge's industry expertise and client-centric approach strengthens the way we serve and deliver value to our clients in the climate, sustainability and fleet decarbonization space,” Anthony Viel, CEO of Deloitte Canada, said in a release.

Based in Toronto, Fleet Challenge was founded in 2005.

It offers Fleet Analytics Review, software that helps vehicle fleets lower emissions and reach net-zero through forecasting and analysis based on historical data. It has helped public and private fleets find solutions to financial, environmental and business challenges, according to a release.

The acquisition will integrate Fleet Challenge’s team, including president and CEO Roger Smith, into Deloitte Canada’s consulting practice. He will advise Deloitte Canada’s fleet decarbonization practice, part of its sustainability consulting arm.

"We are eager to be joining Deloitte, knowing the firm's strong commitment to sustainability and social responsibility," Smith is quoted as saying in the release.

"By combining our deep industry knowledge and specialized skills with Deloitte's global network and strong reputation, we know we can help Canadian fleets optimize their operations and navigate critical challenges to achieve their firm and ambitious targets to reduce GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions," Smith continued.

Financial terms of the acquisition have not been made public.

Deloitte’s fleet decarbonization 

Deloitte Canada has taken an interest in the decarbonization consulting space to help businesses reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. The focus extends to company vehicle fleets, where it aims to help in the transition to zero-emissions vehicles.

This acquisition expands its existing services in fleet management strategies, decarbonization and electrification to large and mid-market customers

Geotab, a Toronto-based fleet management firm, announced in October that Deloitte would offer its services to clients in the U.S. Geotab’s service extends to fleet decarbonization and sustainability for its clients.

Deloitte did not reply to a request from Sustainable Biz Canada for additional information about the acquisition.
